As selected by Nicademiks.com

The 9 members of the 2003 Nicademiks All-American Team, were selected
by coaches, scouts and recruiters who looked at players all over the U.S.
Thousands of readers also sent in suggestions through Nicademiks.com.
In the end, nine individuals received first-team honors. Without further
ado, here is your squad for 2003:
Nicademiks 2003 Roster
1B: Cesar "Commando" Mejia - The Valentino look alike
with the long locks, holds it down with his solid defense.
Best known for talking ish to baserunners, using Spanish
lingo as his favorite form of insult. Most favorite word to call
opposing players wives: gordis.
Theme Song: "To All the Girls I've Loved Before" - Julio Iglesias
2B: Arun "MC Punjabi" Rane - This 3 time golden glove
receipient, is a man with no fear. He has never had a double
play broken up by a sliding base runner...since they know
that if they disrupt his play he'll brake their hand. Did You Know?: Named Best Chest of Bombay 2003.
Theme Song: Sopranos Theme song
SS: Jerome "Boogaloo" La Torre - Best known for taking
the field rocking a panama hat, this defensive specialist
pulls double plays with a latin soul beat. Has two dogs at
home: gallo and pinto. Theme Song: "Calle Luna Calle Sol" - Hector Lavoe
3B: Rob "Big Stick" Starkey - The Sultan of Swat. He is a
soft-spoken man, that lets his bat do all the talking. A former
hockey stand-out at the University of Oregon, he has been
ejected 8 times in his baseball career for cross checking
pitchers with his bat after getting beaned. Theme Song: Anything by Redman
LF: Cary "So International" Collins - The man, who
first impressed crowds during his days playing in the
San Salvador circuit, has recently been recalled from a
loan with a Euro League team in Paris, France. This Winter, Cary signed a landmark shoe deal with Stacy Adams, who are unveiling their state of the art, Italian
made baseball spikes, appropriately titled, "The Don".
These new shoes were unveiled at a recent party at
SF's Cigar Bar, where "El Politico" Luis graciously
paid for everyone's drinks. Theme Song: "So International" - B Legit (of course)
CF: Rafael "El Cacique" Alvarado - Rafa has the most
sought after e-mail address of the Nicademik squad.
With fan clubs in Miami, Managua, Manila, and at the
S.F. HQ of Metro Sport, Rafa could have a big head, but stays humble thanks to good parenting by Sr. y Sra. "Silent Fury" Alvarado. Rafa currently has a 75 game
hitting streak, a feat that began when he superstitiously
started wearing Riordan Basketball shorts underneath his baseball digs. Theme Song: "So Fresh and So Clean" - Outkast
RF: Eddy "La Revancha" Mejia - Older brother to
"Valentino," this veteran outfielder has one of the strongest
arms in the league. A former "dirtbag" standout on the
Long Beach State baseball team, Eddy was first discovered
as a young talent playing fullback for the University of Machu
Picchu. He cites former President Ronald Reagan and current
politico, Luis Qunionez, for sparking his interest in baseball.
God bless America. Theme Song: "Cali Pachanguero" Grupo Niche
C: Luis "El Politico" Quinonez - Most famous for his shrine
to Reagan in his locker. This all-star catcher flattens anyone
trying to get past him like a pupusa. He is coming off a one
year suspension in the league for drinking flor de cana and
coke in the dugout on a regular basis. His reaction to the
suspension: "I don't give a f*ck." Theme Song: "My Way" - Frank Sinatra
P: Ted "Gangs of New York" Cadigan - The luck of the
Irish is definitely with this pitcher. He holds the record for
getting out of the most bases loaded jams with 0 outs
without giving up a run. He is perhaps most famous for his
ads for Guiness Stout and for his stunt on St. Patrick's
Day 2001, where he bought everyone in the stadium a
beer, during the Spring Training exhibition. Theme Song: "Jump Around" - House of Pain
Manager: Julio "Capitalism in Mexico" Moreno
Team Mascot: Kuma - 'nuff said

Reserves
1B: Vinnie "Binalonan Bomber" Balbuena - Growing up on the mean
streets of Binalonan, Vinnie learned the benefits of having a versatile game
strategy. He now uses his "game" to get what he wants. He likes to
"soften pitchers up" through the use of his victim routine, his humor routine,
or his now infamous "he's so cute" routine. Recently, the Binalonan
Bomber has shed a few pounds in order to increase his offensive output for
future first honor consideration. Theme Song: "What's My Name" - DMX
2B: Jason "Filipino Boy Band" Carian - A team-oriented individual, well
suited for the game of baseball. Mentally and physically agile, Jason is
known for getting his hands on all the balls that come his ways... a defensive
genius. An incredible mixture of power and speed. Loves all aspects of
the game…the art of the diving catch, green grass on a Saturday afternoon, guys in tight pants and slaps on the butt after hitting long home runs. Theme Song: "I'm Coming Out" - Diana Ross
3B: Jon "Strong Like Bull" Bulos - An Egg head turned Muscle head. He
went from batting .290 and hitting 10 home runs last year, to hitting .330 and
blasting 30 home runs this year. During his down time, Jon likes to spend his
weekends mentoring youth on Sunday mornings and stripping on Saturday
nights, at a classy San Francisco club that rhymes with the words
"Minnie Lights".
Theme Song: "I'm Too Sexy" - Right Said Fred
LF: Mario "Que Chevere!" Echeverria - This Salvadoran cat has an
incredible up side to his game. Had his way in the minor leagues and was promptly brought up to the "Big Show" to prove that he can do his work on the main stage. Considered by many as a "diamond in the rough", Mario likes to remind people that cortido is not cole-slaw. Known to rock the Dodger blue, there are reports that he is an underground Giants fan. This soon-to-be-superstar has SportCentury Top 50 written all over him. Theme Song: "Ain't No Future In Your Frontin" - MC Breed
CF: Archie "Igorot Idol" Rocillo - A two-sport athlete, Archie's first love has
always been track. Inspired by Olympian distance runner Steve Prefontaine,
Archie now uses his running skills to clear the bases in record time. Best
base runner in the league hands down, although sliding skills could use small
adjustments. Recently earned the nickname Willie Mays Hayes when he was
caught stealing second base after sliding too early and failing to even reach the
bag. On his down time, Archie moonlights as a pop star and has been seen
on such shows as the ever-so-popular "American Idol".
Theme Song: "Mo Money Mo Problems" - Notorious BIG
RF: Miguel "Loves Breezies" Brizuela - Inspired by ESPN's "Chicks
Dig the Longball" commercial, Miguel gave up his career as a pitcher
and has now moved to right field, opting to focus on his hitting abilities.
As a result, Miguel has gained many adoring fans, and in return, he
adores them right back, hence his nickname. Recently he opened up
a new restaurant, fittingly titled McBreezies.
Theme Song: "Calm Like A Bomb" - Rage Against The Machine
Closer: Chef Big Steve - From the chuuuch to da palace, the most
feared player on the squad intimidates opposing batters with a stare that would
send Dave Stewart running home with his tail between his legs. Featuring a
blazing fastball, charted at 101 (South) MPH, Steve relies on his heat to put
away his adversaries. You can find Steve and the rest of the team at the LBC's
fine establishment of Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles after every home win.
Did You Know?: One of Steve's favorite pastimes is knocking out
hot-tempered, Irish knuckleheads on Mission Street. Theme Song: "Smoke Dope and Rap" Dre Dog
