Karma's A Motha...

The following email was written three years ago by Joel Molina, a friend
from USF, where he gives us his two cents regarding the Giant - Dodger
rivalry. This is the original email he sent to all us Giants fans three years
ago. The only changes made have been adding [expletive]…to save the
women and children from suffering through the fanatical language summoned by this passionate series. From: "JOEL MOLINA" Subject: i have just one question... Date: Thu, 20 Apr 2000 19:25:14 GMT q: What's it called when you push all your dust and rubbish off your floor
and into the basura? a: SWEEP!!! Which is exactly what the Dodgers did to SF [Giants] a week ago. I barely found this [expletive] out right now [expletive] around on the internet; and I have to say I'm quite pissed that no one mentioned it to me. Afterall, it's not every day the Dodgers get to close Candlestick Park with a loss and open it with three losses. How beautiful - I told ya'll Frisco [expletive] not
to [expletive] with L.A. Anyways, enough with the masa, I'm out of here -
tell your families I said Happy Easter...Jo-el ps, pass this on to anyone else who wants to relive SF's embarrassing 3 game [expletive] kicking the Dodgers gave them - (because I KNOW if
it was the other way around you guys would be giving me [expletive] - at
least you should- if the day ever comes - haha).
On many occasions, my family and friends have commented that I am a pack rat. I have the habit of keeping everything. If you look in my closet, you can find boxes full of stuff…all kinds of stuff. You can find boxes full of my He-Men, although some are still missing since my cousins in Sacramento decided to keep the ones I let them borrow over a decade ago (damn you guys!). I have kept every letter anyone has ever written me since my freshman year in high school. I have also kept every ticket stub of every movie I have been to since my first year in high school, as well. I still have all my baseball cards, which includes 49 Kevin Mitchell cards and a Barry Bonds rookie card, among many other good ones. Why do I keep all these things, you may be asking. I probably could have sold all my baseball cards, just like I sold all my comic books. But that's just it, I regret selling my comics. I wish I still had them. That collection included Wolverine #1 [Both the limited and regular series], Spawn #1 and so many others. I sold my collection in eighth grade, all in all, totaling about $300 dollars. Sure, that was a lot of money to an eighth grader, but what do I have to show for it today… nothing. I learned a good lesson from that experience…that it's not so bad to hold onto some things for future use or reference. With that said, I also keep all my emails. Occasionally, I go back and read the email people sent me in the past, just to see what they were saying to me at the time. Reading past emails can be a rather entertaining endeavor. Well, a week ago, this is exactly what I was doing, when I came across the above email. When I first read it, I thought it was so funny. The Giant - Dodger rivalry brings out the passion in all us fans. And Jo-el's email captures this rivalry so perfectly. But I particularly enjoyed it because, not but a week ago, the Giants returned Jo-el the favor and swept the Dodgers. The first thing I did after reading this email was to forward it to Jeromey from the Block, aka Ferrari. This is what I wrote: Jerome, I just found this email that Joel sent me a long time back. Read it...I think it may be time to return him the favor…Rafa Jerome wrote back: LOL...Dayum...That's straight archive material. I remember reading that one though... well, I think that day has come. Well, my friends, that day HAS come. And reading Jo-el's email has
provided me the inspiration to write this article. And this could not be a more fitting day to write it. The Giants are currently playing the Dodgers for a second time this season, already having swept them once, and leading the current series 2-0. We are on the verge of completing a second sweep of the Dodgers this season. I know that it may be too early to celebrate, since the Dodger very well could win this last game of this series, but what the hell, lets celebrate! San Francisco DOMINANCE has already been established, this game not withstanding. Don't believe me, well here's some proof: * In the last 6 seasons, dating back to 1997, the Giants have finished ahead of the Dodgers in the standings. * 2002 - Giants - National League Champions * 2000 - Giants - National League West Champions * 1997 - Giants - National League West Champions * The Dodgers have failed to make the postseason dating back to 1996 So yes Dodgers fans, I am relishing this day. But lets revisit Jo-el's email and flip the script, Sucka Free style... q: What's it called when you push all your dust and rubbish off your floor and into the basura? a: SWEEP!!! Which is exactly what the Giants did to LA a week ago. How beautiful - I told ya'll Dodger fans not to mess with S.F…Respect the City. P.S., pass this on to anyone else who wants to relive LA's embarrassing 3 game [expletive] kicking the Giants gave them, not to mention the fact that they are dominating the current series - (because I KNOW if it was the other way around you guys would be giving me [expletive] - at least you should- if the day ever comes - haha). Three years after receiving Jo-el's email, on the very day it was sent to me so many springs ago, I sit here in front of my computer, with a smirk on my face. Life is beautiful. With that said, I just want to wish everyone a Joyous and Wonderful Easter. And for all my L.A. counterparts, I'll end this article by leaving you with only three words: "Karma's A Motha."
DODGER FANS, PLEASE DIRECT COMPLAINTS HERE April 20, 2003
Will I ever get my
He-Men back?

Alou: Hehe...Karma ees a fanny ting my friends.
