A major reason why the Lakers have always been around the top of the 
the list in the NBA is because of their devotion to winning. Ever since the 
days of George Mikan, the Lakers have been winners, and have only been 
rivaled by the Celtics in their intense desire to win a championship every 
season. 
 
The greatest owner the NBA has ever seen is the good Doctor, Dr. Jerry 
Buss. The man has devoted his 
entire being to the Lakers and making 
sure it is a first class organzation that 
is intent on winning. It began in the 
Magic Johnson era, when Dr. Buss 
was a young man and he rewarded his 
Lakers with rich contracts, bonuses, 
and vacations. The man was also 
brilliant enough to put his ego aside 
to let Jerry West run the show. 
 
Then Dr. Buss had the sense to let 
Mitch Kupchak take over and allow 
Phil Jackson to not only date his 
daughter but to have some power in 
the organization something Jackson 
never had in Chicago. 
 
This is what separates the Lakers from let's say the Warriors. The 
Warriors are an inept organization run by egomaniacs and bean counters. 
Garry St. Jean would have been fired by every other organization because 
he has not produced but instead the Warriors allowed him to fire the man 
who drafted the players that brought them back to some form of 
respectability. 
 
I applaud the Lakers for using their resources to acquire Gary Payton and 
I think the Lakers will be the Champions again.
